The 2008 Bluegrass Calendar is out! Becky and Val were featured along with other lady Bluegrassers such as Lynn Morris, Sally Love, Casey and Murphy Henry, Rhonda Vincent and the Cherryholmes ladies, among others. It's available at Eldery.com. (Becky is especially tickled to have her birthday listed, which is something she's hoped for since she was 16. You can address birthday cards to Bell Buckle Records...). Calendar is available at the Homestead Pickin' Parlor.

"Hillbilly: The Real Story," — a documentary Becky helped create music for, will be premiering on the History Channel Sept. 23, 2007 from 8 - 10 p.m. EST.  Hope you can tune in for it!

Thanks to Jer Boon for the lovely interview he posted at UKBluegrass.com.

Daniel Boner's live all-Gospel record called "The Gospel Way" is available now! Log onto DansMusicOnline.com for more information. Oh, by the way, Becky played fiddle on it!

Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike moved up to the #2 spot on the Bluegrass Now Magazine's "Gospel Truths" chart for May 2007 with a little ditty Becky wrote on the Bea and Paul Flaming's porch in Minneapolis, Minn., so many moons ago called "The Rain." Glad to hear you all are enjoying it! Oh, by the way, it was a DJ Hot Pick this month as well!

More radio news! "Make Him A Soldier," a Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike tribute to the Louvin Brothers on their latest all-gospel release "Wash Away Your Troubles," is at #21 on the Power Source Bluegrass Chart for May 2007.

The Daughters of Bluegrass made it to #20 on the Bluegrass Music Profiles chart with "How's It Feel" from their 2006 release Back to the Well on Blue Circle Records. Way to go, ladies!

Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike debuted at #14 on the April 2007 Bluegrass Now "Gospel Truths" chard with "The Rain" from their latest all-Gospel Bell Buckle Records release "Wash Away Your Troubles."  The band is just tickled pink.  Glad to hear you all are enjoying the song!

Check out Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike's rollicking Saturday night set at Wintergrass 2007!  The set is available for download from Festival Link

Congratulations to the Daughters of Bluegrass for breaking into the Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine "Bluegrass Survey" with "How's It Feel" from their Back To the Well album.  The Daughters came in at #26 in the April 2007 issue.

"Wash Away Your Troubles," the first all-gospel album from Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike has been nominated in the first round of voting for the Gospel Music Association's 2007 Dove Awards.

All 11 singles are up for "Bluegrass Recorded Song of the Year." J. Gregory Heinike; Grammy, Dove and IBMA Award-winning Alan O'Bryant and Becky Buller are up for "Producers of the Year" and the album itself is up for "Album of the Year."

Voting continues Feb. 20 when the final list of nominees is announced.

The Dove Awards will be held at the Grand Ol' Opry House in Nashville, Tenn., on Apr. 25.

Apparently it just wasn't cool enough that Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike are performing at this year's Wintergrass Festival in Tacoma, Washington, Feb. 22-25. The fine folks up there saw fit to invite Becky to be part of their songwriting workshop which includes the awe-inspiring talents of Pat Flynn, John Cowan and Darrell Scott!!!

Becky is weeping for the sheer joy of it all, but promises to have herself sufficiently composed enough not to drool while on stage with them.

God is good!

During the IBMA's World of Bluegrass Week, Becky became an endorsee of LouZee Lyre Banjos. She will be playing one of their open-back models at a Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike show near you! The LouZee Lyres were developed by Paul Hopkins and Martin Guitar historian, inlay specialist and music industry legend Mike Longsworth, who passed away in 2003.

Becky Buller will be traveling to the Slovak and Czech Republics in March to perform a few shows with the Blue Velvet Band headed up by everybody's favorite Slovakian banjo player Richard Cifersky. While there, Becky will also be playing on Richard's new solo record and visiting a medieval castle. She has always wanted to see a medieval castle while in Europe, but, alas!, she has not up until this point. She has it on very good authority that Slovakia is crawling with medieval castles. The dates will be posted on our schedule page as soon as they are available.

The Daughters of Bluegrass are now on YouTube! View the IBMA World of Bluegrass performances from Mindy Rakestraw; Jeanette Williams & Michelle Nixon; Heather Berry; Dale Ann Bradley; Frances Mooney; All The Daughters; and even your very own Becky Buller by clicking on each of their names. You will be directly transported to the wonderful world of YouTube! Have fun!

The Daughters of Bluegrass have been nominated for SPBGMA's "Album of the Year" and "Song of the Year" awards for their latest album "Back To the Well" on Blue Circle Records. The 33rd SPBGMA Awards Show will take place on Sunday, Feb. 4 at Nashville's Sheraton Music City Hotel. Several of the Daughters have been nominated individually as well. For a complete listing, please click here.

The Daughters of Bluegrass were honored with IBMA's 2006 Recorded Event of the Year award during the all-star gala event held at the Grand Ol' Opry House in Nashville, Tenn., the night of Sept. 28. In her haste to get to the stage, Becky nearly knocked her date over. (He has since forgiven her.) Marty Raybon and Sam Bush helped the Daughters on stage as well as bestowing this honor upon them. Becky didn't trip, though wearing heels and prone to gracelessness, as aforementioned. Congratulations to all the Daughters, producers Lorraine Jordan and Dale Perry, and everyone at Blue Circle Records on a job well done!

The dimpled Daughters of Bluegrass and "Back to the Well" moves UP from #20 to #17 on the November Bluegrass Unlimited "National Survery." Way to go, gals!

The Daughters of Bluegrass entered Bluegrass Unlimited's June 2006 chart at #29.  Way to go, gals!

"In Those Mines" fell to #13 on the Bluegrass Unlimited chart for June 2006.  But, hey!  It's still on there!

The Daughters of Bluegrass CD release party is set for August 31 at the Station Inn in good ol’ Nashvegas.  Please join us!

Also, I do believe they have a contest going on at www.DaughtersOfBluegrass.com. Check it out!

Ok.  One more thing:  The Daughters are at #10 on the www.RootsMusicReport.com chart.  Woo-hoo!

Up, up…can this be true?  In the wild blue!  “In Those Mines” moved up in the May issue of Bluegrass Unlimited.  It’s at #9 this month.  Yea!  The album is down to #12, but still hanging in there.

“Master’s Garden” is still holding onto the Bluegrass Now charts at #10 for May.

Bluegrass Now had a nice story about Becky in the April issue.  Check it out at:  BluegrassNow.com.  Thanks, Deb and Shari!

Becky and Val have been invited to be guest instructors at the Riverbend Bluegrass Music Camp Oct. 13 -15, 2006, in Ocilla, Ga.  And what, pray tell, will they be teaching?  Why, Female Vocalizations and Songwriting, of course!  Hope you can join them for some fun in the South Georgia sun!

"Master's Garden" is hanging in there on the Bluegrass Now "Gospel Truthes" chart at #10 for April.  That's 10 months!

"Back to the Well," the new album from the Daughters of Bluegrass was released Mar. 14 on Blue Circle Records.  The project, headed up by Lorraine Jordan of Carolina Road Band, and features many of the industry's finest ladies, including our very own Becky Buller as well as Valerie Smith, Dale Ann Bradley, Beth Lawrence, Gena Britt, Julie Elkins, Dixie Hall and many more.  For more information, go to DaughtersOfBluegrass.com.

This Just In!

"In Those Mine" off of Valerie Smith & Liberty Pike's "That's What Love Can Do" BBR-017 record moved up a whopping four spaces to #10 in the April issue of Bluegrass Unlimited Magazine!  That's a big TOP TEN TUNE, good buddies!  The album is holding steady at #10 for the second month on the album chart.

Not only is this big news for VSLP, it's big news for Becky B.  This is her first Top Ten as a writer on the Bluegrass Unlimited charts.  Woo-hoo!!

Check out the March issue of Maverick Magazine, the United Kingdom's premiere voice for Country Music.  Alan Cackett wrote a lovely article about Becky on page 46.  Even cooler is the fact that it's right between pieces on Becky's friends the Abrams Brothers and hero Dolly Parton.

Thanks to the fine folks at D'Addario for offering Becky an endorsement.  She has been playing their heavy gauge Helicore fiddle strings for several years now and highly recommends them.

Minnesota Public Radio met up with the band at Famous Dave's BBQ just outside of Owatonna, Minn., last Thursday.  The interview was broadcast during All Things Considered.  Naturally, Becky—being the NPR fan that she is—is still swooning.  To listen to the interview, please click here.

March Chart Action

"That's What Love Can Do" cracked Bluegrass Unlimited's Top 10 Album Chart for March, rising up to the #10 spot.  Their single "In Those Mines" is currently at #14.

"Master's Garden" is currently at #4 on Bluegrass Now's Gospel Truths Chart.  This makes it 9 months on the chart.  Thanks, everybody!  Glad you're enjoying the tunes!  (By the by, "Master's Garden" was also at #4 on the BN Gospel Truths Chart in February.  Whoops!  Forgot to get that up here!)
